STAY IN THE KNOW
Psychotherapy with Keiran Meht · BACP Accredited · Online & by telephone across the UK, Europe, Global.
Starting therapy can bring up a lot of questions. Below are answers to the ones I’m asked most often. If there’s something you don’t see here, you’re always welcome to get in touch — there’s no obligation, and no question is too small.
GETTING STARTED
What happens in the first session?
The first session is an assessment — a relaxed, confidential conversation about what’s brought you to therapy, what you’d like to feel different, and a little of your background. It’s also a chance for us both to sense whether we’re a good fit to work together. There’s no pressure to continue.
How do I know if therapy is right for me?
If something is weighing on you — whether that’s anxiety, low mood, the after-effects of difficult experiences, or simply a sense that things could feel better — therapy offers a dedicated, confidential space to understand it and move forward. If you’re unsure, an initial conversation can help you decide without any commitment.
Do I need a referral or a diagnosis?
No. You can contact me directly — you don’t need a referral from your GP or a formal diagnosis to begin.
SESSIONS, FEES & LOGISTICS
How long are sessions, and how often?
Therapy sessions last 60 minutes, for both individual and couples work, and usually take place weekly — which helps build momentum and continuity. Frequency can be adapted to suit your needs and circumstances.
How much does therapy cost?
Initial consultation — £20 (30 minutes).
Individual session — £60 (60 minutes).
Couples session — £75 (60 minutes).
Clinical supervision — £90 (90 minu
Do you offer an initial consultation?
Yes. I offer a 30-minute initial consultation for £20 — a relaxed, low-cost way to talk things through, ask any questions, and get a feel for working together before committing to ongoing sessions.
How do online and telephone sessions work?
Sessions take place over a secure video platform or by phone, so you can attend from anywhere private and comfortable in the UK. Many people find remote therapy just as effective as meeting in person — and far easier to fit around busy or demanding lives.
How many sessions will I need?
There’s no fixed answer — it depends on what you’re working through and what you hope for. Some people come for a focused piece of work over several weeks; others value longer-term support. We’ll review how things are going together at regular intervals, and you’re always in control of how long we continue.
What is your cancellation policy?
Cancellations made with 24 hours’ notice or more are not charged. For cancellations made with less than 24 hours’ notice, the full session fee is payable. Not attending a pre-booked session is also charged at the full session fee.
TRUST, CONFIDENTIALITY & APPROACH
Is what I tell you confidential?
Yes. What you share is treated as confidential, within recognised professional and legal limits. As with all responsible practice, there are rare exceptions — for example where there is a serious risk of harm to you or someone else, or where the law requires disclosure. I’ll explain confidentiality and its boundaries clearly at the outset, in line with the BACP Ethical Framework. A full confidentiality contract is available on MindWell Hub, and can also be sent to you by email.
What are your qualifications?
I am a BACP-accredited psychotherapist with 15 years’ experience. I hold an undergraduate degree in Humanistic Counselling Practice from the University of Nottingham and a postgraduate qualification in Trauma Studies. I am a registered and accredited member of the BACP and work in accordance with NICE guidelines and the BACP Ethical Framework.
What kind of therapy do you offer?
My practice is humanistic and trauma-informed. I specialise in working with people who have experienced adversity and trauma, and with the defence mechanisms that can develop in response — such as negative rumination, intrusive thoughts, and emotional withdrawal. The work is grounded in a belief that every person has the capacity for growth, and that the right therapeutic relationship can help unlock it.
Do you offer clinical supervision?
Yes. I provide clinical supervision for fellow practitioners — a reflective, supportive space to explore your client work, develop your practice and safeguard your own wellbeing. Supervision sessions last 90 minutes (£90).
BETWEEN & BEYOND SESSIONS
What support is there between sessions?
Healing doesn’t pause when a session ends. Alongside our work together, I offer access to MindWell Hub — a digital companion with mood tracking, guided exercises and curated resources, so you can continue to support yourself between appointments, at your own pace.
